Postdoctoral Researcher
Mitchell was born in Southern California before moving to Nashville, Tennessee, where he completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Trevecca Nazarene University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, under the mentorship of Dr. Greg Odorizzi, where he studied membrane trafficking to the lysosome with a focus on adaptor protein complexes. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Eichel Lab investigating membrane trafficking machinery in neurons at the axon initial segment and their role in maintaining neuronal polarity and cellular health. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games with friends, hiking when he can, and learning a new skill every year (2024 was the year of making cocktails).
